About IPYDISThe International Polar Year Data and Information Service (IPYDIS) is an international federation of data centers, archives, and networks working to ensure proper stewardship of IPY and related data. The IPY Data Policy and Management Subcommittee guides the actions of the IPYDIS and provides the overall IPY data management strategy developed in accordance with the recommendations described in the Glaciological Data Report GD-33 (PDF file, ~1.56 MB) and the International Council for Science's (ICSU) Priority Area Assessment (PAA) on Data and Information. The IPYDIS is a supporter and participant in the Electronic Geophysical Year (eGY) which promotes a modern e-Science approach to issues of data stewardship: open access to data, data preservation, data discovery, data rescue, capacity building, and outreach. The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) acts as a coordination office for the IPYDIS and aims to
Contact for assistance in these areas. NSIDC's IPY data management activities are supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). See IPY at NSIDC. This site is created under NSF award OPP-0632354. |
